Our clients

Meet some of our regular Killcare and Hardy's Bay clients – they all have their own unique personalities and preferences for where they like to walk and play and they are going to tell you a little bit about themselves.

Chelsea

Hello, I'm Chelsea, a nine-year-old Basenji. I'm an African hunting dog and I don't bark. Dianne and I go way back as she has been walking me for seven years and I would prefer to live with her than my owners. It's much more fun at her house, especially playing with the addictive sheepskin slippers Dianne and her mother, Dorothy, have. I have managed to work out how to open the cupboard to get the slippers and make snow around the house with them. I haven't been that popular at Killcare Beach because I am notorious for being mean to other dogs, especially small fluffy ones, so Dianne always puts me on the lead whenever these dogs appear. However, as I've got older, I seem to have turned into a much nicer dog. I always sit in the front seat of Dianne's car though to reflect my top dog status.

Lauren

Hello, I'm Lauren and I love to chase the ball. In fact, I have to confess that I am ball-obsessive, so sometimes Dianne doesn't let me take the ball on the beach so that I just have a normal walk. This is very boring for me however I know she needs a break now and then. I love sticks and balls but I love my owners more than anything, Karen and Paul. They saved me from the pound and we are a family. I get to go to the beach most days, although I don't like it if it is too hot, and I enjoy the dog walk around in Hardy's Bay too. I don't get on very well with Chelsea. She's an awful dog and she tried to get the ball one day. She doesn't even like balls. So I told her off but she doesn't seem to have taken any notice. I put up with her if I really have to.

Twiggy

Hello, I'm Twiggy and I'm the fastest and sleekest dog on the beach. Lauren thinks she's ball-obsessed but she's got nothing on me. My mother is Fiona and we've just got a new addition to the family with Callie who she saw in a pet shop window. She's a bit distracting and wants to play with me all the time when I'd rather just chase the ball. I don't know why Fiona wanted another dog but I have to admit Callie's pretty cute and I am enjoying the company although her barking can be annoying. Although I am a good dog most of the time, I do have the tendency to upset my owner when I chase people on bikes and decide that I don't like a certain dog for no real reason. I do like Chelsea, which is considered unusual.

Steffie

Hello, I'm Steffie and I'm a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I love sticks, well, logs really. The bigger the better, I say. When I run down the track to the beach, the first thing I do is look for a big stick. I can play with sticks all day and never, ever get bored. I can't understand why this can sometimes drive people a bit mad, even my owners. The thing I love best is having the stick thrown repeatedly in the water and I retrieve it time after time and then I bark loudly when the stick isn't thrown. This loud bark certainly does the trick and makes them throw the stick again. I don't take any notice of other dogs, just the stick. Sometimes, like Lauren, Dianne makes me walk along the beach without the stick. This is quite depressing for me but I put up with it because that's the sort of dog I am. I'm still always on the lookout for one – just in case, as then I can drop it at any human's feet on the off chance that they will throw it for me. I always have such a good sleep after a stick retrieving marathon session.
